Into the Fire Series - Mia West

It is amazing how diverse and imaginative many authors are in putting forth their stories. Mia West is one such author; unique, and not like any other author I've read. She has some amazing books.

I read the entire series: Into the Fire, which begins with a story of two men who could have lived in European history. The two were childhood friends. Both lived in Western Europe during the Roman invasion. The younger boy stayed behind to help his Master, the blacksmith, while the older boy left to become a soldier in the Roman Army.

The first book shows us how much fear and hate could come from that period. That is, until the younger man realizes that the other man is actually his assumed-brother; the other apprentice to the now deceased Master.

The younger boy learned his skill well and proved talented with his work. The older man was wise and skilled in the way of the sword, but his power could not overcome the strength of a blacksmith with a hammer.

The story unfolds, love shows it's face, and then the two men become one. They live their lives and have to relocate, encounter others, and have to learn how to live in a community instead of as a couple.

Each of the books tells a new era in the lives of the two men. They grow older, have a child, love and lose. There is an adventure, anxiety, fear, and passion in each of the books.

i highly recommend this tale as it is amazingly written. You'll feel for the two men and want their journey to end as passionately as it began.
